Kazakhstan National Bank’s Islamic assets to rise 5% by 2020

Mubasher: Total assets of Islamic banks will average between 3% and 5% of the total assets of the banking sector by 2020, deputy governor of the National Bank of Kazakhstan said Wednesday during a roundtable meeting on Islamic finance emerging markets in which the bank launched a new analytical report on Islamic finance in partnership with a range of institutions.

Titled “A future perspective of Islamic finance”, the new report which explores the possibilities for boosting Islamic finance prospects in Kazakhstan, forecast that the country’s gross domestic product will grow 2.4% in 2016.

Thomson Reuters, the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), and the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI) were among the group worked on launching the report.
