King Salman ordered to issue driving licences for females – SPA

Riyadh – Mubasher: King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz issued on Tuesday a royal decree to grant driving licences for female citizens for the first time in the kingdom’s history, effective 10 Shawwal 1439 Hijri date, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

“We refer to the negative consequences of not allowing women to drive vehicles and the positive aspects of allowing it to do so, taking into consideration the application of the necessary legal controls and adherence to them,” SPA added.

Salman ordered to form a committee from the ministries of labor, finance, internal affairs, and social development to discuss the necessary arrangements of applying the decree.
