Mubasher: The passenger movement registered at Kuwait International Airport (KIA) in 2017 increased by 17% to 13.7 million travellers compared to 11.7 million in 2016, according to a recent statement by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Kuwait.
The number of passengers arriving at the airport reached 6.8 million in 2017 compared to 5.9 million in 2016, the statement added, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Departing passengers increased to 6.8 million in 2017 from 5.8 million in the prior year.
The airport’s total cargo movement registered about 241.6 million kilograms in 2017 compared to 195.5 million kilograms in 2016.
The Kuwaiti Civil Aviation clarified that the flight movement operated from and to the airport reached 11,600 flights in 2017 compared to 104,100 in the previous year.
Commercial flights increased to nearly 106,300 in 2017 from 98,000 in 2016.
