Mubasher: The passenger movement registered at Kuwait International Airport (KIA) registered a growth of 24% in January 2018 compared to the same month in 2017.
The number of people who travelled through the airport stood at 1.37 million in January this year compared to 1.11 million in January 2017, according to a recent statement by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Kuwait (DGCA).
About 719,100 passengers have arrived in Kuwait Airport in January 2018 compared to approximately 553,900 travellers in the same month last year.
Meanwhile, passengers departing from the airport totalled nearly 658,200 in January 2018 compared to around 556,700 in the corresponding period in 2017.
The DGCA clarified that the flight movement operated from and to the airport in January 2018 reached approximately 10,090 flights, 15.9% higher than around 8,700 flights in January 2017.
Commercial flights through Kuwait Airport increased to nearly 9,600 flights in January this year compared to around 8,280 in the same month a year ago.
The airport’s total cargo movement stood at 19.9 million kilograms in January 2018 compared to 16.5 million kilograms in the same month in 2017; a year-on-year increase of 20.6%.
