Kuwait – Mubasher: The Kuwait Cassation Court has informed National Mobile Telecommunications (Ooredoo Kuwait) and Kuwait Telecommunication Co (Viva) that it has ruled in their favour in Law Suit no. 667/14.
The lawsuit was filed by the two Kuwaiti telecommunications companies against the Ministry of Telecommunications, according to a bourse statement.
“In the ruling, the court has negated the earlier judgment regarding tariffs on numbers that have been withheld and on numbers in use at the time of ruling,” Ooredoo said in its bourse filing.
“Both parties will be liable for their own legal costs,” it added.
Viva said that the financial impact of the judgment had not been measured, but it is likely to have positive financial implications if it filed a claim to recover the amounts already paid by the company, according to a separate statement by Viva.
Ooredoo stated that the company would be exempted from paying some unspecified figures.
