Kuwait completes 80% of Al-Zour complex’s $16bn refinery

Mubasher: The $16 billion (KWD 4.8 billion) oil refinery at Kuwait’s $27 billion (KWD 8.2 billion) Al-Zour crude complex is 80% completed.

With an expected production capacity of 615,000 barrels per day, the oil refinery’s works were awarded to many companies including Canada’s SNC-Lavalin, Netherland’s Van Oord, and Saud Abdulaziz Alrashed & Brothers Company.

Around 66.5% of works in the $3 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing facilities are completed, Construction Week Online reported on Tuesday.

The processing facilities are slated for completion in 2020.

“At the time, Kipic said that EPC work on Al-Zour’s petrochemicals complex would complete in Q3-2023, with start-up expected in Q1-2024,” the Emirati website revealed.
