Mubasher: The last plane evacuating Kuwaiti citizens stranded abroad landed in Kuwait on Wednesday, marking the end of the fourth and the last phase of the repatriation plan, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The last flight took off from London via Kuwait Airways and arrived at the Kuwait International Airport late on Wednesday.
The three-day phase was successfully facilitated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). During the phase, the Kuwait airport received 26 scheduled flights from Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Washington, Montreal, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Cairo, and Najaf.
Moreover, the total number of scheduled flights received by the Kuwait airport during the four phases collectively amounted to around 179 flights launched from several destinations across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
It is noteworthy that the grand repatriation plan came upon the directives of Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah to bring home all nationals stuck overseas due to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
