Kuwait crude oil exports to China jump 35.1% in May

 

Kuwait – Mubasher: Kuwait's crude oil exports to China grew 35.1% year-on-year in May to 1.45 million tonnes, or around 344,000 barrels per day (bpd), Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Wednesday, citing government data.

Kuwaiti shipments of crude oil to China passed 300,000 bpd level for the first time in two months, according to the General Administration of Customs.

China's overall imports of crude oil in January increased 38.7% from a year earlier to 7.63 million bpd, according to KUNA.

Saudi Arabia ranked as the top crude oil supplier for the world’s second largest economy after its exports to the Asian country jumped 33.6% year-on-year to 965,000 bpd, followed by Iraq with 805,000 bpd and a rise of 56.6%.

Angola was third, although China’s imports from the country fell 5.0% to 733,000 bpd. Oman and Iran ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. Despite economic slowdown, China continues to a major importer and consumer of oil.
