Kuwait – Mubasher: Kuwait’s US-bond ownership has declined by $400 million reaching $31.3 billion in August compared with $31.7 million in the previous month, According to data released by the US Treasury Department.
The value of Kuwait’s bond ownership is distributed across short-term bonds worth KWD 3 billion and long –term treasury bonds worth $28.2 billion.
Treasury securities represent 5.3% of Kuwait’s foreign assets that were estimated by Moody’s Investor Service to be worth $580 billion.
China is considered the largest owner of US treasury bonds with a value of $1.18 trillion, followed by Japan with $1.14 trillion.
