Kuwait imports 7.5m tonnes of LNG in 3 yrs

Mubasher: State-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) imported around 7.5 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) during the previous three years, informed sources told Annahar newspaper.

The GCC country has imported LNG cargoes from the UK’s British Petroleum (BP), Royal Dutch Shell plc, and Qatar Gas, the sources added.

KPC has a six-year, $12 billion contract with Shell for supplying LNG shipments and a five-year deal with BP at a value of $3 billion, along with importing 80,000 tonnes of LNG per cargo from Qatar Gas.

LNG imports have contributed to protecting the GCC nation from any harmful environmental emissions that result from burning diesel and kerosene.
