Kuwait lifts ban on poultry imports from UK, Germany

Kuwait-Mubasher: The Public Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries has lifted ban on poultry imports from Germany and United Kingdom, following the testing results that showedconfirming they are free of bird flu.

Live birds’ imports must meet terms set by the livestock department at the authority as well as regulations of the World Health Organization (WHO), and the veterinary laws stated by Kuwait and other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), said general director Faisal Al-Hasawi.

“Imports of livestock infected with communicable diseases and epidemics will be turned back to the exporting origin and theat expenses for shipping the products back would be covered by the importer,” Kuwait News Agency cited Al-Hasawi as sayingin a published statement.
