Kuwait opens world's 4th longest causeway

Mubasher: Kuwait’s Emir Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber has inaugurated Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah causeway with a cost of KWD 904 million.

Marking the world’s fourth largest causeway, the project links Kuwait city with Subiya city (new Silk City), Kuwait’s Center for Government Communication (CGC) said.

South Korea’s prime minister Lee Nak-yeon has lauded the participation of the South Korean companies in this megaproject, which was implemented by using the cutting-edge and environmentally friendly methods of civil engineering and technologies.

The project was carried out by South Korea's Hyundai Engineering & Construction-led consortium and Combined Group Contracting Company.

The causeway will be managed and operated via an intelligent transport system, Nak-yeon added, noting that it will link the Southern and Northern regions of the nation.

The project will also reduce commuting time between Southern and Northern regions to 20 minutes from 60 minutes.
