Kuwait posts KWD 1.217bn trade surplus in October

Mubasher: Kuwait’s trade balance surplus surged 116.3% year-on-year in October 2018, reaching KWD 1.217 billion ($3.9 billion), compared to KWD 563 million ($1.8 billion), Central Statistical Bureau (CBS) reported.

The GCC nation’s exports jumped 42.5% to KWD 2.129 billion by the end of October last year, from KWD 1.49 billion in the same month a year earlier, CBS added.

Kuwaiti imports fell 2.1% to KWD 912 million in October 2018, compared to KWD 932 million in the prior-year period.

Year-on-year,  Kuwait’s trade exchange levelled up 25.4% to KWD 3.041 billion by the end of October, from KWD 2.42 billion.

During the first ten months of 2018, Kuwait’s trade surplus hit KWD 9.32 billion after exports amounted to KWD 18.44 billion, while imports reached KWD 9.1 billion.
