Kuwait’s budget deficit hits KWD 1.9bn end-September

Kuwait - Mubasher: The budget deficit of Kuwait reached KWD 1.9 billion at the end of September 2017, including 10% of future generation reserve, according to official data released by the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

The data showed that total revenues amounted to about KWD 7.03 billion, whereas expenses stood at KWD 6.75 billion for the same period, according to Alanba News.

This budget deficit represents the difference between total expenses and total revenues, without cash adjustments between the MOF and government entities.

Therefore, the deficit may decline to KWD 1.2 billion after these adjustments, excluding the 10%.

Kuwait's budget deficit, which stood at about KWD 1.9 billion at the end of September, remained almost unchanged from the deficit recorded at the end of August.

Al-Shall Economic Consultants company has lowered its forecast for Kuwait’s budget deficit to range between KWD 4.5 billion and KWD 5 billion in the current fiscal year 2017/2018.
