Kuwait’s exports to US fall 60% in 10 yrs

Mubasher: Kuwait’s exports to the US tumbled more than 60% from 2008 to 2018, while the US imports to the GCC nation rose in the same period.

Saudi and Kuwaiti exports to the US fell in the ten-year period, while exports of the GCC peers to Washington levelled up, Al Anba newspaper reported, citing data from Center of The Gulf & Arabian Peninsula Studies.

Kuwait’s exports to the North American nation reached $2.8 billion in 2018, down $4.2 billion from $7.09 billion in 2008.

While the GCC country’s imports from the US rose $265 million to $2.98 billion in 2018, from $2.7 billion in 2018.

In 2018, cars topped Kuwaiti imports from the US at a value of $867 million, followed by equipment, electrical equipment, medical supplies, and iron and steel imports with $422 million, $262 million, $206 million, and $136 million, respectively.
