Mubasher: Kuwait’s holdings of US Treasury bonds grew by 3.07% year-on-year (YoY) in February 2020 to stand at $43.6 billion from $42.3 billion, data by the US Department of the Treasury showed.
On a monthly basis, the GCC nation’s holdings of US debt instruments increased by 4.06% after registering $41.9 billion in January 2020.
Kuwaiti investments in US debt instruments were distributed as $37.80 billion worth of long-term bonds and $5.82 billion as short-term bonds.
Saudi Arabia continued to head the Arab investors in US Treasury holdings with $184.4 billion, followed by Kuwait. The UAE held the third rank with $37.3 billion.
At the global level, Japan topped the list with $1.26 trillion, followed by China and the UK with 1.09 trillion and $403.2 billion, respectively.
