Mubasher: The Kuwaiti government has signed six maintenance contracts (one per each governorate) worth a total of KWD 14.356 million since the beginning of 2019, the assistant undersecretary for distribution electrical networks at the Ministry of Electricity and Water Mutlaq Al Otaibi announced, according to Al Qabas newspaper.
Each of these contracts carries an execution period of 36 months, Al Otaibi concluded.
The ministry does not suspend maintenance works throughout the year, Al Otaibi added, indicating that these works are mainly related to the secondary switching stations totalling 32,557 nationwide.
The government’s maintenance programme aims to ensure the quality of the service provided, as well as the efficiency of transformers equipment to deliver the electric current to its users without interruption.
In 2018, the government had replaced and installed 166 secondary switching stations nationwide, meanwhile, it had maintained 617 secondary switching stations, Al Otaibi said, according to Al Qabas newspaper.
