Kuwait’s non-oil domestic exports shrink 20% in November

Mubasher: Kuwait’s non-oil domestic exports decreased by 20% in November 2017 compared to the same months last year, according to a recent report by the commerce and Industry ministry of Kuwait.

Locally produced goods in Kuwait shrank to KWD 8 million ($26.5 million) in November 2017 from KWD 9.97 million ($33 million) in the same month in 2016.

The country’s domestic exports to the Arab states represented 62% of the total exported goods or KWD 5 million, while the remaining 38% or KWD 3 million were exported to the rest of the world.

On a monthly basis, the ministry’s report showed a drop of 38% in domestic exports when compared to KWD 13 million ($43 million) in October 2017.

Iraq topped the list of the Arab countries importing from Kuwait in November by a value of KWD 3 million, followed by Jordan and Lebanon with KWD 1 million and KWD 296,000, respectively, while Egypt and Algeria imported locally produced goods in Kuwait by 5% or KWD 237,000 each.

Kuwait’s domestic exports to the Arab region decreased by 33% in November compared to October 2017, while it declined by 17% when compared to November 2016.

Globally, Turkey advanced the list with Kuwait’s domestic exports worth KWD 887,000.
