Kuwait’s non-oil exports up 20% in December

Mubasher: Kuwait’s non-oil exports surged 20.2% year-on-year in December 2018, according to data revealed by the ministry of commerce and industry on Monday.

The Gulf nation’s oil exports rose KWD 2 million ($6.60 million) to KWD 11.9 million ($39.27 million) last December, up from KWD 9.9 million ($32.67 million) a year earlier, the ministry added.

Arab countries acquired KWD 9.3 million, or 72%, of the overall Kuwaiti exports, while non-Arab nations made up KWD 2.6 million or 28%.

The UAE topped importers of Kuwait’s products with KWD 3.3 million, followed by Saudi Arabia and Egypt with KWD 1.8 million and KWD 1.5 million, respectively.

As for the Kuwaiti exports to the other countries, Italy ranked the first destination with KWD 1.1 million, followed by Turkey, Portugal and Belgium with KWD 805,000, KWD 357,900 and KWD 176,000, respectively.

The rest of countries importing from Kuwait included Greece, Spain, Sweden, and Poland with a total value of KWD 99,100.
