Kuwait’s oil output down by half as workers continue to strike

Kuwait – Mubasher: Kuwait Oil Company’s crude output declined by 50% to 1.5 million barrels per day from 3 million barrels pd as a strike by oil workers’ entered its third day, Talal al-Khaled, the oil sector Spokesman, said on Tuesday.

The company’s crude oil production forms 90% of the Kuwaiti oil output.

The spokesman said that business operations at Kuwait National Petroleum Company are going as planned, adding that the company is currently working on running the Industrial Island while fulfilling the needs of local market and power plants of gas, petrol and oil products.

Workers of state-owned oil companies in Kuwait started the strike to protest against government plans of pay reforms that cut their wages and benefits.
