Kuwait suspends flights with Singapore, Japan over coronavirus fears

Mubasher: Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended all flights to and from Singapore and Japan in response to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.

The decision, which comes into effect today, concords with the health ministry’s instructions after new cases tested positive for the new coronavirus, the directorate said on its official Twitter page on Wednesday.

All Kuwaitis coming from those two countries will undergo a quarantine period, while other passengers who have been in the said countries over the last two weeks will not be allowed to enter Kuwait even if they carried valid visas.

The DGCA emphasised that no entry visas will be issued for those coming from Singapore and Japan and has barred transporting any transit passengers coming from those countries.

In addition, it advised all airlines working in Kuwait International Airport to submit their lists of passengers with all related information to the Ministry of Interior at the soonest.

On Tuesday, the DGCA suspended all flights to and from Iraq, South Korea, Thailand, and Italy, in a bid to control the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.
