Kuwait to halt commercial air traffic on Friday amid coronavirus worries

Mubasher: Kuwait’s government will suspend all commercial flights in Kuwait International Airport as of midnight Friday, 13 March, until further notice, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The decision is part of the country’s directives to combat the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Incoming flights to Kuwait International airport will be restricted on Kuwaiti travellers and first-degree relatives,” the cabinet’s official spokesperson, Tareq Al Mizrem, revealed.

However, cargo aircraft will be excluded from the mandate, he added.

During its extraordinary meeting on Wednesday, the Kuwaiti cabinet announced a public holiday for two weeks starting Thursday, 12 March, until 26 March, amid worries over the novel disease.
