Kuwait – Mubasher: The trade surplus in Kuwait surged 314.2% in the first quarter of fiscal year 2017, compared to the same period of 2016, according to official data.
The trade surplus jumped to KWD 1.63 billion in Q1-17 from KWD 392.39 million in Q1-16, the Central Statistical Bureau of Kuwait said on Thursday.
The country’s exports increased 55.2% to KWD 4.16 billion in Q1-17 from KWD 2.68 billion in Q1-16.
The non-oil exports grew 34.7% to KWD 449.39 million in Q1-17 from KWD 333.51 million in the corresponding quarter a year ago, the official data added.
Meanwhile, Kuwait’s imports rose by 10.9% to total KWD 2.54 billion in Q1-17 from KWD 2.29 billion in Q1-16.
