Kuwaiti firms to establish logistics centre in Damanhur

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Khaled Hanafi, said Saturday that an alliance of Kuwaiti companies won an auction on a 81,100 square meters land parcel in Damanhur, Beheira Governorate, to establish commercial chains and logistics centres.

Al Oroba Company for Commercial Chains clinched a 204,120 square meters to establish a major commercial chain, according to the statement, which didn’t mention any other companies.

The minister earlier announced that three firms from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain won auctions to establish retail chains in Cairo and Al Sharqia Governorates.

The ministry’s First Secretary, Ahlam Roshdy, said that there is a strategy, being implemented by the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA), aims at increasing investments in internal trade from EGP 7.8 billion to EGP 20 billion.

The strategy also aims to raise the growth rate from 2% to 8%, as well as providing 4 million jobs through boosting the partnership between public and private sectors.
