Kuwaiti indices slid on Wednesday; turnover up 8.4%

Mubasher: Boursa Kuwait showed negative performance at Wednesday’s close, with the All-Share Market down by 0.25% or 15.64 points at 6,258,07 points, and the Premier and Main indices falling by 0.17% and 0.49%, respectively.

The turnover rose by 8.4% on Wednesday to stand at KWD 37.28 million from KWD 34.39 million in the previous session. The trading volume amounted to 194.51 million shares, down by 21.3% from 247.01 million.

The oil and gas segment led nine losers with 0.71%, whereas the industrial sector was the only winner with 0.49%.

First Takaful Insurance came on top of the fallers with 13.65%, whereas Bayan Investment headed the risers with 10%.

Furthermore, the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), down 0.19%, saw the highest turnover of KWD 8.7 million, while Arzan Financial Group for Financing and Investment led the trading activity through the exchange of 25.65 million shares, the stock went down 4.14%.  

Investors in the Kuwaiti stock market are still held back by worries and fear, capital market analyst, Hussein Al Matrood, told Mubasher.

He attributed the decline in Kuwaiti and regional stock markets to some factors, including the novel coronavirus as well as social and political conditions.
