Mubasher: The Kuwaiti nationals shifted their traveling destinations during New Year’s Eve to Turkey and Lebanon, while their numbers increased 20%.
Kuwaitis’ reservations are likely to exceed 100,000 tickets during the New Year’s holiday on the back of discounts and offers on flight tickets, hotel reservations, and shopping malls, General Director of Raya Tourism Ramy Al-Miqdad said.
Turkey and Lebanon attracted most travelers during the holiday season, due to the short traveling time between Kuwait and the two destinations, boosting the number of flights to approximately 15 to 20 flights per day, Rashed Al-Ajami, a tourism expert, said.
Geopolitical concerns in Egypt and Syria have propelled the Kuwaitis to turn their interest to Turkey, which is a cheaper destination, compared to Dubai, Al-Ajami added.
As for Kuwaiti hotels, bed and breakfast reservations increased 10% to KWD 60 per night, comparing to usual prices, Al-Ajami noted.
