Cairo – Mubasher: The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) managing director Christine Lagarde has stated that she would recommend the approval of the fourth review of Egypt’s $12 billion loan programme.
Such a move is expected to lead to the disbursement of a $2-billion tranche of the loan, according to Reuters.
Lagarde noted that Egypt’s government has made a good effort in decreasing the country’s budget deficit and unemployment.
Earlier in January, the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) governor Tarek Amer said that a $2 billion postponed instalment of the IMF loan was expected to be received “late January or very early February, at the latest”.
