Lekela set to deliver Egypt's West Bakr wind farm by 2021-end

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's West Bakr wind farm is set to be fully operational by the end of 2021 as the renewable power generation company Lekela has delivered the first 20 turbines. 

Construction in the 250-megawatt (MW) project, situated 30 kilometres north-west of Ras Ghareb, has started in September 2019 and the first turbines were installed in late December 2020, according to a statement. 

Lekela is supporting the local community in Ras Gharek through several socio-economic initiatives, including the launch of a youth vocational training programme and a women skill development programme.
