Dubai – Mubasher: The Business Registration and Licensing (BRL) sector in Dubai’s Department of Economic Development (DED) has issued 2,805 new licences in April 2019, up 60% year-on-year from 1,753 licences.
The new licences added 8,375 jobs to the labour market with 49% of the new licences issued were professional, 48.1% commercial, 2.3% related to tourism, and 0.6% industry, according to a press release.
Total business registration and licensing transactions completed last April reached 29,813, up 13% from 26,393 in April 2018, data by the DED’s BRL showed.
The number of trade name reservation in April hit 4,513, rising 36.6% from 3,305 in the same month of 2018, while the number of initial approvals stood at 3,664, BRL unveiled.
Meanwhile, the licence renewal made up 13,140 transactions, increasing by 3.8% from 12,660 in April 2018, while auto renewal transactions via text messages grew by 85.2% to 6,259 from 3,380.
Instant licences amounted to 185 in April, surging 112.6% from 87 in the same month a year earlier, the release highlighted.
Furthermore, the number of DED trader licences rose by 19.4% year-on-year in the fourth month of the year to166 licences, versus 139.
Data by the BRL also revealed that Bangladesh has topped nationalities who secured licenses in April 2019 in Dubai, followed by India, Pakistan, Egypt, Britain, China, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, The Philippines, and Afghanistan.
