Local, Arab purchases push EGX up Tuesday

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session up on the back of purchases by Egyptian and Arab investors.

The benchmark EGX30 index levelled up 59.62 points, or 0.45%, finishing the session at 13,402.7 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index added 0.11% to 688.10 points, while the broader EGX100 index edged up 0.13% to 1,724.06 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index went up 0.77% to 2,205 points.

Trading volume amounted to 236.9 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.03 billion through 31,300 transactions.

Foreign investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 58.19 million, whereas Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 50.6 million and EGP 7.5 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) plummeted 1.31% to EGP 75.5, with a turnover of EGP 1.23 million.

Market capitalisation closed the session at EGP 764.59 billion, gaining EGP 4.06billion.
