Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian banks’ local deposits surged by more than 20% year-on-year in December 2019.
Local currency deposits in banks operating in Egypt rose to EGP 2.948 trillion in December, from EGP 2.443 trillion a year earlier.
Month-on-month, deposits grew by 2% in December, compared to EGP 2.889 trillion in November.
It is worth mentioning that total foreign currency deposits went down to EGP 655.086 billion in December 2019, compared to EGP 661.048 billion in November.
