Local purchases push EGX near 14,300 pts early Monday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) started Monday’s trading session in green territory on the back of local purchases.

By 10:21 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index added 50.45 points, or 0.35%, to 14,294 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index edged up 0.17% to 687.91 points, while the broader EGX100 index went up 0.17% to 1,735.47 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index added 0.31% to 2,314 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume amounted to 16.24 million shares exchanged through 2,270 transactions at a turnover of EGP 58.17 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 1.5 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with 769,300 and EGP 768,230, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank has not seen any trading yet.
