Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Louvre Abu Dhabi has welcomed over 1 million visitors since its opening in November 2017.
Saturday marked the one-year anniversary of the opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which has since established itself as a leading cultural institution on the global stage.
“One year ago we spoke about Louvre Abu Dhabi as Abu Dhabi’s gift to the world – and today we are proud to have shared it with more than one million visitors already. Louvre Abu Dhabi has become an icon and a favourite destination in Abu Dhabi both for our local communities and visitors to the city," commented Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).

Over the course of the year, UAE residents have topped the museum's goers, making up 40% of its visitors.
"Emirati nationals are in the top two nationalities of residents who visited the museum and is the top nationality of repeat visitors. The museum has 5,000 members to its loyalty programme (Art Club)," a statement by the Louvre Abu Dhabi showed.
The remaining 60% come from various parts of the world, including the Middle East, Europe and Asia, with France, Germany, China, UK, the US, with India and the GCC being the top visitors.

As for the top nationality of visitors to the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Indian visitors seized the top spot, including Indian nationals and expats in the UAE.
"Our strong collaboration with our French and regional partners supports the museum’s mission to tell universal stories and we thank them. Yet our greatest success, 10 years in the making, is the next generation of Emirati museum professionals who are trained to the highest standard in the cultural sector and are leaders in their field,” Al Mubarak highlighted.

It is worth noting that in August, Time Magazine named The Louvre Abu Dhabi, along with and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, among the world’s 100 greatest places for 2018.
