LuLu opens 8th branch in Sharjah, plans new hypermarkets in GCC, Egypt

Dubai – Mubasher: LuLu Group announced the opening of its eighth branch in the emirate of Sharjah and the 164th globally.

The Indian retail giant plans to open 32 hypermarkets across the GCC, Egypt, Indonesia, and Malaysia this year, LuLu said in a statement.

The new hypermarket was opened by Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, chairman of Sharjah Rulers Office.

“We are upbeat about the economy and the vast investment opportunities that lay open in the countries that we are expanding, thanks to the visionary leadership of its rulers and the authorities,” Yusuffali M.A, chairman and managing director of LuLu Group, commented.

The UAE-based retail group is seeking to inaugurate 29 stores in GCC nations this year, including 12 hypermarkets across the UAE.

Earlier in February, LuLu opened its 16th branch in the eastern city of Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

In 2018, the supermarket chain revealed plans to invest $270 million in Saudi Arabia by 2020 to open 15 hypermarkets.
