MOT to raise Cairo Metro tickets price within 2 yrs

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Ministry of Transport (MOT) will raise the price of Cairo Metro’s tickets in 2018 or 2019, in line with the completion of the development process, transport minister Hisham Arafat told Shorouk News.

Despite doubling the price of tickets, using the metro for commuting increased by 10% after fuel prices hiked in June, Arafat added.

On 23 March, Egypt doubled the price of Cairo’s metro tickets after getting the Cabinet approval.

Arafat had previously announced in September that the MOT is planning for the development of Cairo Metro Line 1 and 2 with a total cost of EGP 30.7 billion.
