MPC to hold meeting on 21 May instead of 18 May – CBE

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) decided to postpone the Monetary Policy Committee’s (MPC) meeting from 18 May to 21 May.

The central bank have not mentioned more details regarding the rescheduling’s reasons.

CBE’s MPC holds eights meetings during the year.

On 30 March 2017, the MPC decided to keep the overnight deposit rate, overnight lending rate, and the rate of the CBE’s main operation unchanged at 14.75%, 15.75%, and 15.25%, respectively, according to a statement.

In November, the CBE had raised key lending rates by 300 basis points, or 3%, after free floating the pound exchange rate.

Core inflation registered 32.250% by the end of March.
