MSM 30 declines 0.08% to hit 7-day losing run

Mubasher: Muscat Securities Market’s (MSM) benchmark index, MSM 30, gave up its mid-session gains to close in red for the seventh consecutive day, as it ended Sunday’s trading at 5,354.97 points after dropping 0.08% or 4.33 points.

Sharia Index also declined 0.20% to the level of 852.42 points.

Trading volume closed at 7.65 million shares valued at OMR 1.4 million through 471 trades.

The services sector fell 0.54%, followed by the banking and industrial sectors with a decrease of 0.26% and 0.14%, respectively.

Six shares, out of 39 companies, closed higher, while 17 others were down, and the remaining 16 steadied.

Construction Materials Industries was the top performer with a rise of 3.03%, while Al Jazeira Services suffered the deepest loss after going down 6.79%.

Bank Nizwa was the most active in respect with trading volume as 3.6 million shares were traded, while Muscat Bank made the biggest trading value with OMR 318,500.

MSM 30 closed Thursday with a fall of 0.05% or 2.68 points to the level of 5,359.30 points.
