MSM 30 hits highest level since August 2015

Mubasher: The benchmark MSM 30 of Muscat Securities Market (MSM) hit its highest level since 23 August 2015 on Monday after rising 0.4% or 23.9 points to 6,019.51 points.

The index was supported by the increase in the financial sector by 0.16%, as HSBC and Ominvest advanced 2.61% and 2.16% respectively, while Oman and Emirates Investment Holding topped losers after falling 4.46%.

The industrial sector moved 0.6% thanks to the rise in Raysut Cement and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles by 3.29% and 1.54% respectively.

The services sector grew 0.07% as National Gas topped gainers by adding 9.35%, reaching its highest level since December 2014.

Trading volume rose 7.36% to 21 million shares. Turnover leapt 30.51% to OMR 5.15 million.

Galfar Engineering made the highest trading activity with a volume of 7.49 million shares exchanged at OMR 894,110.

MSM 30 rose yesterday by 0.27% to 5,995.61 points.
