MSM 30 sheds 48 points at close

Mubasher: The Muscat Securities Market’s (MSM) benchmark index, MSM 30, plunged 0.90% or 48.10 points to the level of 5,289.34 points at close on Tuesday.

The Sharia Index declined 0.79% or 6.76 points to the level of 845.31 points.

The main index fell yesterday by 0.52% or 27.72 points to 5,337.44 points.

Trading volume rose by 1.1% to 9 million shares, versus 8.9 million shares exchanged yesterday.

Turnover surged 22.8% to OMR 2.64 million, against OMR 2.15 million yesterday. The market value slumped to OMR 15.67 billion, compared to OMR 15.74 billion on Monday.

Financial, industrial and services sectors fell collectively by 1.04%, 1.02% and 0.41% respectively.

United Power was the top performer after moving up 2.99%, while Oman Textile was the weakest as it dipped 9.6%. 

Omantel made the highest liquidity with OMR 666,800, while Bank Nizwa made the biggest trading volume activity with 1.83 traded shares.
