Mubasher: Oman’s MSM 30 index gained 0.07% or 376.49 points through the current year, to end 2016 at 5,782.71 points that considered its first time annual gain in two years.
The financial and industrial sectors gained 0.18% and 0.09% respectively, while the services sector remained stable at its previous level.
Packaging Co Ltd, National Gas and Al Jazeera Steel Products topped the best performing stocks in 2016, as they added 364.29%, 89.4% and 80.88% respectively.
On the flip side, Sembcorp Salalah Power, National Hospitality Institute and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were the steepest as the slide by 90.61%, 74.05% and 44.41% respectively.
The market capitalization of the Omani market gained 9.56% reaching OMR 17.29 billion by the end of 2016.
The market also witnessed an increase of 19.19% y-o-y in trading values with 4.63 billion shares changed hands worth OMR 958.87 million.
