MSM closes in red; all sectors down

Mubasher: The Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed Monday on a negative note, as the benchmark index sank 0.52% or 27.72 points to 5,337.44 points, and the Sharia index declined 0.36% to 852.07 points.

Yesterday, the main index slightly rose by 0.01% to the level of 5,365.16 points.

Trading volume dropped by 64.6% to 8.91million shares, versus 25.17 million shares exchanged on Sunday. Turnover dipped 34.7% to OMR 2.15 million, compared to OMR 3.29 million yesterday.

The market value came to OMR 15.74 billion, against OMR 15.78 billion yesterday, with a 0.25% decrease.

The bourse main sectors moved down collectively; led by the financial with a fall of 0.46%, then services and industrial with 0.33% and 0.12% respectively.

Al Jazeera steel was the top performer with a growth of 3.6%, while Galfar Engineering topped losers with 4.55% lower.

Bank Muscat made the biggest trading value activity with OMR 747,500, whereas the largest trading volume activity went to Bank Nizwa through 1.83 million traded shares.
