MSM down 4.3% in October

Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) lost 4.27% or 108.78 points in October, as it closed at the level of 5,481.44 points.

All of the market sectors saw a negative performance during October, led by the industrial sector which dropped 4.78%, while the financial and the services sectors decreased 3.97% and 2.61% respectively.

The banks dominated the trading activity, as HSBC-Oman was the most active in traded volumes with 90.39 million shares, while Bank Muscat registered the highest turnover at OMR 12.79 million.

Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles led the decliners as it dropped 24.26%, followed by Oman Education and Training with 15.91%.

On the other hand, Takaful Oman Insurance led October’s gainers as it surged 25%, while HSBC added 10.89%.

Market cap declined by 0.72% or OMR 124,870 and closed at OMR 17.22 million.

Total traded volumes increased by 22.02% to 378.52 million shares, while turnovers rose 42.24% to OMR 77.5 million.
