Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed 0.3% or 16.4 points lower, reaching 5,528.06 points on Tuesday.
The index was affected by the decline of its leading stocks as Phoenix Power lost 2.99%, followed by Omantel with 2.25%, and Gulf International Chemicals with 1.61%.
The sectors fell collectively, led by the services sector after Al Jazeira Services and Al Batinah Power shed 0.60% and 0.57%, respectively.
The industry sector tumbled 0.39% topped by Muscat Thread Mills with 9.09%, and Oman Fisheries which went down 2.76%.
The financial sector slipped 0.01% as Takaful Oman Insurance, Al Anwar Holdings, and National Bank of Oman (NBO) levelled down 4.44%, 0.97%, and 0.87%, respectively.
Traded volume dropped to 12.2 million shares on Tuesday against 13.2 million shares on Monday, while trading value increased to OMR 2.74 million against OMR 2.56 million.
