MSM ends 1st session in 2017 in red

Mubasher: The benchmark MSM 30 index of the Muscat Securities Market shed 0.66% or 38.11 points to close at 5,744.59 points.

The services sector was the only loser as it decreased 0.95%, weighted by Maridive and Oil Services which dropped 7.27%.

The financial sector added 0.88% on the gains of Bank Nizwa and HSBC of 6.02% and 4.17%, respectively.

The industrial sector rose 0.13%, backed by Oman Fisheries and Al Anwar Ceramics Tiles which increased 1.64% and 0.59%, respectively.

The market trading value retreated to OMR 2.24 million from OMR 2.74 million in the previous session. The market trading volume also fell to 7.08 million shares from 12.24 million shares in the preceding session.

Maridive was the most active in terms of traded value of OMR 997,550 million, while Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of traded volume trading 1.65 million shares, adding 0.5%.
