Mubasher: The Muscat Securities Market (MSM) ended a five-week gaining streak as the benchmark MSM 30 fell this week by 0.17% or 10.28 points to the level of 8,969.47 points.
MSM 30 rose last week by 0.62% or 37.03 points to the level of 5,979.75 points.
Meanwhile, the Shariah index advanced 0.54% or 4.77 points to 888.74 points, versus 883.97 points last week.
The financial sector fell by 1.25%, while the services and industrial grew by 0.92% and 0.69% respectively.
Trading volume retreated 11.07% to 101.75 million shares from 114.4 million shares exchanged last week.
Turnover also shrank 34.52% to OMR 21.5 million from OMR 32.85 million a week ago.
National Gas topped gainers by adding 14.04%, while Oman and Emirates Investment Holding led decliners after falling 6.33%.
Galfar Engineering was the most active stock with a trading volume of 17.8 million shares exchanged at OMR 2.33 million.
