MSM ends Monday down; services, industrials weigh

Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed Monday 0.17% or 9.35 points lower, reaching 5,440.93 points.

The index was affected by a decline in leading stocks as Gulf Investment Services Holding, Oman Investment and Finance, and Galfar Engineering and Contracting lost 4.55%, 2.83%, and 2.44%, respectively.

The services sector shed 0.31% after National Gas retreated 7.62% to its lowest level in a year, while Oman National Engineering and Investment decreased 1.32%.

The industry sector tumbled 0.26% as Oman Textile Holding slid 9.57%, followed by Al Hassan Engineering with 3.85%, whereas Oman Fisheries rose 2.07%.

The financial sector levelled down 0.20% on the back of Gulf Investment Services, while Global Financial Investment lost 2.41%.

Traded volume declined to 8.89 million shares on Monday against 11.86 million shares on Sunday, while trading value dropped to OMR 1.62 million from OMR 2.48 million.
