MSM falls 8.09 pts at Thursday’s close

Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) ended Thursday in the red zone, after losing 0.15% or 8.09 points reaching 5,415.07 points.

All the sectors dropped, led by the financial sector with 0.32% as Oman and Emirates Investment Holding, Al Sharqiya Investment Holding, and Al Madina Investment Company decreased 2.56%, 1.72%, and 1.49%, respectively.

The industry sector inched down 0.02% after Construction Material Industry declined 3.33%, followed by Galfar Engineering and Contracting with 1.25%, and Voltamp Energy with 0.44%.

The services sector edged down 0.01% as Sohar Power tumbled 1.89%.

Traded volume decreased to 9.15 million shares on Thursday against 31.67 million shares on Wednesday, while liquidity dropped to OMR 1.85 million from OMR 4.47 million.

Al Madina Takaful led in terms of trading volume with 4.58 million shares traded, while Oman Telecommunications (Omantel) led in terms of traded value with a liquidity of OMR 535,640.
