MSM finishes Sunday weaker on services’ slide

Mubasher: Muscat Securities Market (MSM) ended Sunday’s trading session on a lower note battered by the services sector, shrugging off the financial and industrial sectors’ rise.

The benchmark MSM30 edged down 7 points or 0.13% to 5,412.2 points.

MSM Shariah Index inched down 0.060 points or 0.01% to 832.9 points.

Around 14.12 million shares were traded over 824 transactions, against 31.9 million shares in 1,617 transactions last session.

Out of 39 companies exchanged today, 14 moved up, 9 moved down and 16 stayed unchanged.

Sector-wise, the service sectors fell 0.02%. Meanwhile, the financial and industrial sectors went up by 0.22% and 0.04% respectively.

Tracking the stock movement, United Insurance headed the best advancers by a growth of 8.64%, while Al Batinah Power was the worst performer as it declined 1.95%.

United Insurance was also the most active stock across the board with a turnover of OMR993,300 and 4.16 million shares. The stock closed 8.64% higher.
