Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed 1.08% or 60.71 points lower, closing at 5,543.09 points on Tuesday.
The index was affected by a drop in leading stocks, led by the financial and services sectors, as Ahli Bank retreated 6.03%, Bank Dhofar slipped 5.46%, and Shell Oman Marketing shed 5.28%.
The financial sector dropped 1.1%, despite Al Madina Investment’s rise of 1.47%, as Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding declined 5.56% and Al Madina Takaful fell 5.49%.
The services sector edged down 0.71% through the drop of Shell Oman Marketing, and Ooredoo and Renaissance Services’ fall of 1.48% and 0.45%, respectively.
The industry sector levelled down 0.23% due to Oman Fisheries, which dropped 1.65%, and Voltamp Energy, which tumbled 1.44%.
The volume of trading increased on Tuesday to 18.66 million shares against 14.61 million shares on Monday, while trading value went up to OMR 4.45 million against OMR 3.72 million.
