MSM rises 0.4% in week

Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) ended the week up 0.41%, gaining 23.59 points, and closed at the level of 5,834.11 points.

The financial and industry sectors went up 1.58% and 1.62% respectively, while the services sector remained unchanged.

The indices rise was supported by the buying activity of Omani and Arab investors, who netted OMR 3.1 million, and OMR 273,930 respectively, while foreign and gulf investors were net sellers at OMR 436,510 and 2.94 million respectively.

Oman Fisheries led the session’s 

gainers and surged 26.36%, while Oman Textile Holding and Galfar Engineering added 9.68% and 8.79% respectively.

On the other hand, Muscat Thread Mills was the biggest decliner and dropped 9.65%, and Sohar Power lost 4.35%.

Traded volumes increased 20.94% this week to 115.3 million shares compared to 95.34 million shares last week. Traded values also rose 26.82% to OMR 20.121 million up from OMR 15.866 million.

The market capital edged up 0.2% to OMR 17.86 billion.
